NEW YORK—Sh Figuart, the iconic Italian-made furniture brand with an Instagram account dedicated to its products, is making baby figues that look like “an adorable toddler,” a spokeswoman said.
The company said Thursday it is working with artist Mario Di Lorenzo to make figuarains inspired by the movie Baby Vegetal, which stars Miley Cyrus and was directed by Emma Stone.
Sh Fig, founded in 2001, said it plans to release “baby figues” and “frozen figues”—frozen versions of figuares that feature characters with different looks.
“We’re just so excited that people are responding to Baby Vegetation, and it’s such a hit with the girls,” Sh Fig spokesperson Lauren Giochi said.
“I love seeing them in a more child-like light.”
Sh Fig has sold millions of figusas, including one made by a young girl for the children’s clothing line Yeezy Kids.
Sh in Italy, which produces the world’s largest, most expensive, and most popular variety of figa, is owned by Italian conglomerate S.K. Fig.
The baby figs are the latest product Sh Fig is launching.
The brand recently expanded its portfolio with a line of artisanal figs, including a special line of handcrafted “fiesta figs,” a collection of hand-carved figs featuring floral patterns and hand-painted designs.
The new line includes a line called “Sizzler,” which has floral patterns, and a line “Lucky Fig,” which is “an exquisite hand-crafted hand-cut, hand-pressed fig” made with a special clay.
Sh also has a line that “shines with colors,” including “the brightest reds, yellows, and oranges of all colors,” according to the company.
Sh says it is also in the process of developing “the world’s first line of baby figures,” which will include baby figue designs with names like “baby veggie,” “fairy baby,” and “baby girl.”
Sh will launch the baby fig line in May at a price of $150 a pop.
Sh said it is in talks with the movie and toy studios about licensing its designs, and has asked them to collaborate on licensing.
Sh is also working on licensing the characters to clothing and accessories brands.
The movie was made by Steven Spielberg and directed by Stone, who stars as the character of Miley.
It was released in theaters on Nov. 25.
Sh did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Baby Vegetan, about a young woman named Figa who lives in a rural village in Italy who lives with her grandmother and aunt, is based on Di Lorenzo’s short film, “Baby Vegeta.”
Sh said Di Lorenzo wrote the screenplay and wrote the music for the film, and the production company, Dario Argento Productions, is handling the distribution.
The film was a smash hit in Italy and beyond, and Sh has sold hundreds of thousands of baby figurines.
Sh has been in talks to license Di Lorenzo-directed baby fig designs, but Di Lorenzo has yet to sign on to the deal, Sh Fig said.
